Scouting for Food

Scouting for Food is our annual food collection drive. It's another reminder to our community that Scouts are here, doing good turns. Pack 94 participates in the New Lenox Scouts Food Drive each November.

Scouting for Food takes place on two consecutive weeks. During the first, Scouts distribute bags to let their neighbors in our assigned area know about the drive. The bags include a set of instructions. On the second, Scouts revisit those houses to pick up bags full of canned food, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, juice and other nonperishable items. We then take the bags to the drop off site where some real magic happens.

Thousands of food items are sorted in an incredible display of cheerful service, organization and dedication. Scouts deliver the bags to tables where parents unload them. Scouts then hand-deliver items to the appropriately-labeled packing tables spread throught the gym. The sorted donations are boxed and loaded into trucks then delivered to local New Lenox food pantries.

Hundreds of families in need throughout out community are helped year-round by these pantries thanks to our efforts. Collecting day is a favorite for many Scouts and Scouters each year.

Registration is not required for this event. See you there!
